Abuja, Oct.5, 2012 (NAN)The Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABUCCIMA) has extended the closing date for the ongoing 7th Abuja International Trade Fair to Oct. 11.
The fair, which started on Sept. 27, was originally scheduled to end on Oct. 8.
Dr Solomon Nyagba, the President of ABUCCIMA, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the extension was to make room for more patronage and to enable the exhibitors to make more sales.
He said that the patronage was not high at the beginning but started picking up later, hence the need to give more time.
``Lots of people are beginning to know about the fair and we are witnessing a surge just few days to the end; so, we decided to give the exhibitors more time to recoup their investments.
``We have added three days to the scheduled closing date to provide room for a win-win situation,’’ Nyagba said.
Some of the exhibitors expressed the hope that the extension would allow more visitors to come to the fair and patronise their products.
Mr Chima Okorie, an exhibitor, said he had just started recording increased sales and expressed the hope that the extension would enable him time to make more sales.
Mr Frepor Ajima said he would have ended with a loss if the fair had not been extended.
``I made profits at the previous fair but was almost giving up hope on this fair if not for the extension,’’ he said.
NAN reports that about 140 local and firms from Senegal, Mali, India, The Philippines, Indonesia, Ghana, Egypt and Benin Republic are participating in the fair. (NAN)
