Abuja, Oct. 8, 2012 (NAN) Amb. Mark Egbe, a senior administration official, has described Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Mrs Catherine Okon, as an astute administrator and technocrat, given to the Federal Government by Cross River State.
Egbe, the current Director of the Second United Nations Department (SUND) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was Nigeria’s immediate past Ambassador to Bourkina Fasso.
``Kate, as most of us fondly call her, is a tested and distinguished public servant, who proved her mettle in service.
``Today, she has joined the Foreign Service and we know she will not disappoint us,’’ Egbe said in his toast at a farewell dinner organized by a Committee of Friends of Amb. Okon in Abuja.
He said the choice of Mrs Catherine Okon as an Ambassador could not be faulted as `` she is well focused, articulate and determined to succeed in whatever she sets out to do.’’
Egbe charged her to be mindful of her posting to Prague and work diligently to discharge her mandate.
In her remarks, Okon said that she would work assiduously to represent the country effectively.
``I will work positively to sustain and deepen the existing bilateral relations between Nigeria and the Czech Republic, including the promotion of President Goodluck Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda.’’
The envoy thanked the committee for the honour and promised not to let them down. (NAN)
