Kano, Oct. 19, 2012 (NAN); The Kano State Government has closed down two additional private clinics in the Kano metropolis for allegedly operating with sub-standard facilities.

The affected clinics are Haznaf Medical Laboratory, Rijiyar Lemo and Al-wasa’u Clinic and Maternity, Kurna.

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the state's Ministry of Health, Isma’ila Gwammaja, on Friday in Kano, said the clinics were closed down on Thursday for failure to meet set standards.

‘’The Special Adviser to the governor on Private Hospitals, Dr Salisu Ibrahim, has expressed concern over the attitude of proprietors of some hospitals.

‘’This is because they have refused to comply with the rules and regulations governing medical practise, " the statement said.

It, however, warned other proprietors of private hospitals in the state to improve their services or face the wrath of the law.

The statement specifically warned Salamatu Clinic and Maternity, Rahama Clinic, Kunya Clinic, Unicare Hospital and Biodel Laboratory to improve their services or be sanctioned.

According to the statement, the present administration is committed to providing quality healthcare to people of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) recalls that the State Government has so far closed down over 10 private clinics and hospitals in the state as part of effort to sanitise healthcare delivery services in the state. (NAN).
