Carnival

Abuja, Oct. 11, 2012 (NAN) The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) on Thursday in Abuja said the agency would  organise a mini-carnival to support the national soccer teams ahead of their qualifying matches.

Chief Olusegun Runsewe, the Director General NTDC, told newsmen that the carnival, slated for Calabar, would keep the city ready for the matches.

He said that fans needed to be properly sensitised on the need to support to both the Super Eagles and Golden Eaglets.

``The only way for the teams to feel at home is for people to come out in large number to give them support.

``You cannot imagine how far the support will go in making the teams to win the matches. It is time for us to lend positive support and do that with all our heart,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the teams will play qualifying matches at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar on Saturday and Sunday.

The Super Eagles will take on Lone Star of Liberia in a final qualifying round, second leg match, on Saturday.

The Golden Eaglets are billed to lock horns with Guinea in the first leg qualifying fixture for the 2013 African Junior Championship in Morocco. (NAN)
